A Different Point of View

A Different Point of View

Having been raised with a northern father and a southern mother has always given me an interesting viewpoint on entertaining and etiquette. This blog is an introductory one for Hospitality which will include Tea Parties, Etiquette, Tea in the Work Place, and Entertaining in everyday life. Because of my north/south background, living in Texas, and raising three sons, you will find me advocating some very untraditional and creative ideas for this subject.

But the criteria for all of my ideas, I hope, will pass the test of a tea friend Monica Miller, who many years ago gave this advice: Use your good manners to make other people feel comfortable, not inferior.

It’s interesting how our heritage influences so many things about the way we see life. My German grandparents had no idea how they were passing on to me how important it is that things work right and are practical. So another theme in my life through my first website teatreasures.com was Elegance with Efficiency. Sure I want things to look good, but if they don’t work or have a purpose, then I’m not as interested. So most of the products and ideas I suggest have both an aesthetic and practical side.

Probably the most important criteria I desire is generosity, especially in relation to hospitality, which is not always easy to do. So stay tuned to some intriguing blogs about all these subjects.
